l Waltham Cross’s Claim to Fame: Waltham Cross got its
name from the medieval Eleanor Cross at its centre, built to commemorate the place where Queen Eleanor’s coffin rested overnight on its final journey from Lincoln to Westminster Abbey. The author Anthony Trollope lived in the town for 12 years and wrote many of his novels here. The town is home to the world’s biggest newspaper printing plant, and Lee Valley White Water Centre is a legacy of the 2012 London Olympics.
