TRADERS at Barrow-in-Furness market entered into the festive spirit once again for the annual best dressed Christmas stall competition.
The Mayor and Mayoress, Coun and Mrs Colin and Brenda Thomson, were on hand to judge the market stalls, along with National Market Traders Federation President Michael Nicholson.
This year’s competition had six categories with the overall award of the Frank Baker memorial trophy going to Daddy’s Café, which is run by Linda and Owain Miln.
Other winners included: Harts the Jewellers, who were recognised in the Christmas gifts category; Andrea’s Accessories, awarded the most welcoming stall; Sweetie Bagz won in the Christmas is for children category; and the
winter wonderland award went to Spirit Tattoos. The spirit of Christmas award was presented to N & S Rhodes Butchers and the runners-up prize was awarded to Oldfields
Butchers.
Michael Nicholson said: “It was a privilege to
be asked to attend the judging of the Christmas displays. The standard of entry was extremely high and the judging this year was more difficult than ever. The market offers everything that the Christmas shopper could ever want.”
Coun Thomson said: “It was a pleasure to join Michael to judge the annual Christmas Stall Competition. Everyone was to a high standard and I hope that even more traders will enter into the spirit of Christmas to decorate stalls next year.”
