 Barrow decks the stalls with festive flair
BARROW traders who pulled out all the stops to decorate their stalls at Christmas were recognised for their hard work.
NMTF National President Julien Lewis joined the town’s deputy mayor, Councillor Colin Thomson, to hand out the annual awards in all seven categories of the Barrow Market’s Best Dressed Market Stall Competition.

Best Personal Effort: Gadgethead, Melanie Allen
Ahmad of Sobia Fashions and Melanie Allen of Gadgethead were joint winners of the Best Personal Effort category. The Butchers Hall comprising N and S Rhodes, A Wells and N Charnley were recognised for the Best Team Effort. The Most Welcoming accolade went to Andrea’s accessories run by Andrea Scraggs. The Best Dressed Gentlemen award went to Tommy Robson of Robsons and Mark Holmes of Harts Jewellers. And The Frank Baker

Memorial Trophy went to Andrea’s Fabrix run by Andrea Leake.
Andrew Leake said: “I was over the moon. I really didn’t expect to win. I decorate the stall every year and I always make something new.”
National President Julien Lewis said: “This is an excellent annual competition that encourages traders to make a big effort to decorate their stalls and the result is a really Christmassy market that pulls in the crowds.”
