Its most famous landmark is St Botolph’s Church, called The Stump because of its lack of a spire. St Botolph’s is the largest parish church in England with the tallest tower. John Cotton, a former vicar of St Botolph’s, was among the Pilgrim Fathers and was instrumental in founding and naming Boston, Massachusetts in 1630.
