l Downham Market’s claim to fame: Downham Market is a rural town in West Norfolk and is most famous as the place where, according to folklore, Lord Nelson attended his first school, for its ancient market and for St Winnold’s Day Fair which celebrates the days when the town played host to Europe’s largest horse fair.
