THE National Market Traders Federation has signed a partnership agreement with the Department for Work and Pensions in an effort to boost entry into market trading.
NMTF Chief Executive said: “This is a major step forward for the NMTF in that it means that our working relationship with DWP — and indeed the Government — is on a much firmer footing.
“We want to encourage as many people as possible to make market trading their career, and the Government is keen on entrepreneurship and job creation, so this partnership is the way ahead.”
The agreement was signed in London at a meeting of heads of trade associations by Joe and Employment Minister Mark Hoban.
The minister said: “I want to make sure all young people have a good
start to their careers — that’s why it’s important for the Government to work with employers and trade associations.
“So I’m really pleased that this week I am signing partnership agreements with six major trade
associations, including the NMTF. “This will help us to promote schemes such as our Youth Contract wage incentive to more than 400,000 employers and create more opportunities for young jobseekers across the country.”

Sue Noddings, Blyth town council clerk, said: “The market square is quite a grey, granite area and a lot of people have been trying to come up with ways of brightening up the market and
making it more vibrant.”
She said the community grant would
help to promote the market and make it more attractive for traders and customers.
