Project for Public Spaces is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people create and sustain public spaces that build stronger communities.
Founded in 1975, the PPS approach embraces the insights of William H Whyte, a pioneer in understanding the way people use public spaces.
Today we have become an internationally recognized center for best-practices, information and resources about Placemaking.
We provide: • Place-based Planning and Design • Placemaking Training and Education • Public Space Advocacy
Over the past 30+ years, PPS has worked in more than 2,000 communities in 26 countries around the world, helping people turn their public spaces into vital community places with programs, uses and people friendly settings that build local value and serve community needs.
Our mission driven program areas encompass all major public spaces including Parks, Streets & Transit, Civic Centers, Public Markets, Mixed-Use Development, Downtowns, Campuses, Squares and Plazas and Waterfronts.
